HSEQ Manager

This global shipping organization within the Maritime industry has seen exponential growth year on year and as a result have engaged us to work with them on an exclusive search to bring on board an experienced HSEQ and Compliance Manager

As part of their growth strategy, the organization is currently investing heavily on safety initiatives which means there will be ample opportunities across APAC for the potential hire to be directly involved and bring the company safety standards to another level. Reporting to the Head of HSEQ and Crewing, the incumbent will kick off his or her career as an experienced custodian to the SEA operations.

You will also be influencing and improving current processes in place, take part in audit management, share best practices with regards to safety projects, improve quality standards, and execute existing proposals within between the organization and its partners

Other deliverables will entail the following:

  • Drive behaviour-based safety programs and be an advocate to change
  • Maintain Safety Management Systems according to ISM codes
  • Develop, implement and maintain Quality & Environmental Management Systems according to ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards
  • Review management systems to ascertain performances and propose process improvement guidelines to senior management
  • Housekeeping of compliance documents in the corporate office and certification validity for vessels
  • Data extraction from Ship Managers
  • Drive/implement new project implementations and ensure change management, risk assessments are in place for fleet operations
  • Occasionally represent the Head of HSEQ & Crewing in external forums and programs
  • Monitor HSEQ & Crewing budgets and action logs
  • Constantly ensuring fluid communication between office personal and vessels that are located across the region
  • Create and maintain VMS board for performance meetings
  • Effectively interact with all functional departments in the Singapore office
  • Monitor crew performances with regards to quality, certifications, training ashore and onboard
  • Collaborate with senior leadership team to develop KPI schematics to enable optimal performances

Skills & Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience with HSEQ ship management operations
  • Graduate in relevant field of study or equivalent combination of experience in offshore, marine or industry
  • Shipping/Maritime/Oil & Gas industry exposure in QMS, ISM, SMS, HSE functions would be a plus
  • Ship Fairing or Captain or Chief or 2nd Officer, Crew Management experience desirable
  • Someone that is driven, dynamic and an effective communicator
  • Experience people leader with ability to lead, coach and mentor teams
  • Self-starter, forward thinking, flexible in terms of working style, hands on, very competent in analytics & data collection and good stakeholder management
  • Humble personality traits, honest and curious individual with collaborative mindset
  • Culturally adaptable given the cross regional presence and growth projected for the company
  • Software expertise in MS Office suites is essential
