Specialist Area:In Morgan McKinley's Singapore office, I manage the Project & Change, Compliance, Sales & Marketing and Supply Chain & Procurement teams. Specifically however, I recruit within the Project & Change Management executive market.
My Advice:Project & Change Management is a constant focus for every business and we support Change initiatives in every part of our client's infrastructure. Although specialist knowledge and experience is important, each requirement we have calls for something completely different which leads to no day being the same! In some cases our clients will look to recruit people with deep technical knowledge of a given area, which can often lead to the successful applicant not coming from a typical Project Management role. However, there are other occasions where "domain" experience is of less importance and technical Project Management is the key (i.e. Lean Six Sigma). Therefore my advice is be guided by us on each application and have an open mind every time.
I have been recruiting in Financial Services since 2007 and have seen some very interesting times, especially during the Financial Crisis in 2008. Although this time presented many different challenges, I was given fantastic opportunities to understand my client's business at a much deeper level, but also I was well positioned to help them grow again once stability returned to the Financial Services recruitment market.
In terms of my personal background, before moving to Singapore in 2013 my entire career had been spent recruiting in the Scottish market, with a particular focus on Edinburgh and Glasgow. After commencing my career with one of Scotland's largest independent recruitment firms, I started my own business in 2010. After a very successful two years, I decided to move to Singapore to gain more International experience and joined a small firm in which I managed a team that supported clients across all areas of non-technology Infrastructure. Throughout my career I have always taken a consultative approach in understanding career goals and aims, and have looked to source the best possible options for my clients in the market. I am always looking to widen and extend my networks, and maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity.
