In the past couple of years, the contracting market has been increasingly popular in Singapore for both clients and candidates. For a lot of clients, especially within Project & Change, it gives them the flexibility to hire qualified professionals, who are immediately available and can hit the ground running entering certain projects. For candidates, it gives them the exposure to be involved in interesting as well as complex projects or engagements, where moving forward would be beneficial for their career. My advice to candidates would be to always learn new business and technology trends and be informed on where the market is heading, as the Project & Change space is always evolving. As for clients, always consider the option to hire subject matter experts on a contract basis, especially for time and budget critical projects that are happening internally. These experts will be more reliable and are able to solve any road blocks that will often happen with projects.
