What is Contracting?
In simple terms, contract work is a period of non-fixed term employment where a position can last from one day to several months, sometimes longer and you are typically paid on a pre-agreed hourly/daily rate basis. Contracting spans all industry sectors and can sometimes be as simple as covering for an absent employee through to the challenges of large scale transformational projects.
"After registering with Morgan McKinley as a contract candidate, I was immediately contacted with job opportunities by their very professional recruiters. One of the benefits of working on contract assignments is the experience you gain working within different industries. I have learned to be very flexible and adaptable. I have gained valuable experience, learnt new methods, worked on various accounting packages and improved my communication skills."
Melanie Adams, contracting with Morgan McKinley since June 2006
“Each contract presents me with a new challenge. Every organisation has it's own processes, systems, people and culture and this keeps me highly motivated. I have gained valuable experience in each interim role to date. I find great job satisfaction in each contract role. The objective is to deliver within the given period of time and then move on. With contracting comes a high degree of flexibility, both in terms of the roles you undertake and in the periods of time that you work; I find this allows for a greater work life balance than in many of the permanent roles I have undertaken.” Sharon Smith, Chartered Accountant and PRINCE 2 practitioner
